چکیده
My primary interests and dissertation research lie in the area of many-core chip multiprocessors; however, broadly speaking, I am interested in computer architecture research. Multi-core chips present exciting opportunities and challenges across a broad spectrum of research areas including embedded systems, computer-aided design, electronic design automation, programming languages, operating systems and architecture. The recent tighter coupling of resources and higher levels of integration on chip force us to challenge the conventional wisdom of shared memory multiprocessors. In particular, a closer look at how inter-processor communication should be carried out on emerging many-core architectures is the primary focus of my dissertation research. Communication can encompass several different aspects of system design; in particular, I have examined interconnection network architectures, coherence protocol design and operating system scheduling algorithms.
